Evening walks in the archaeological area of the Imperial Forums
With the arrival of the warm season, one of the most anticipated summer events for Romans and tourists starts again, combining history, archaeology and beauty. From 20 June to 28 September 2025, every evening of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm (last admission), under the enchantment of the starry sky you can immerse yourself in ancient Rome, rediscovering the wonders of the archaeological area of the Imperial Forums.
The initiative is promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Culture – Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, with the museum services and the organization of Zètema Progetto Cultura.
The entrance is from Piazza della Madonna di Loreto, from the ticket office of the Imperial Forums located near Trajan’s Column. A staircase leads down to the level of the archaeological area, while a lift is available for people with mobility difficulties. The one-hour visit takes place along a dedicated and wide walkway. Participants, in groups of max 25 people and accompanied by a guide (4 shifts are in Italian and 2 in English), will begin walking along the Trajan’s Forum, then through the passage-gallery that winds beneath Via dei Fori Imperiali, they will reach the Forum of Caesar with the remains of the Temple of Venus and those of the porticoes that housed the tabernae of the time, i.e. the offices and shops of the Forum. We will then continue to the Curia, seat of the Senate, and from there to the exit from via Bonella on via dei Fori Imperiali, near Largo Corrado Ricci / Via della Salara Vecchia.
The program is financed with the funds provided by the Prime Ministerial Decree of 10 April 2024 (celebrations of the Jubilee of the Catholic Church of the year 2025) for the “Welcome Project” Reception and surveillance services in archaeological sites in monumental areas and in the Museums under the jurisdiction of the Capitoline Superintendency.
